Keeping Your Employees in Their Newlywed Stage at Work

Just as couples who are newlywed, employees who are newly employed go through the initial bubbly stage of happiness and love. Nothing seems to go wrong for them, and everything seems possible.

Though it’s inevitable that the stage will come to an end, as an employer it’s important to keep your new employees in this stage as long as you can!

Here are some important rules to follow to keep your employees happy as long as possible:

Offer positive feedback, and avoid the negative feedback. You don’t want to ruin the newlywed stage by nagging, but instead by telling your employees how well they’re doing. Whether it’s a relationship or work everyone likes to feel appreciated. Providing feedback only takes a second to do, and yet could prolong the newly wed stage for quite a while.

Schedule fun activities! In in the busiest most hectic office you need some down time to enjoy yourself. Maybe it’s only a 30 minute extra lunch break, or maybe you have a huge party for the entire office. Either way, you need your employees to keep from getting burnt out- so make work enjoyable. Making non-mandatory out of work events if also a great idea.

Provide promotions. If an employee is doing an excellent job, maybe it’s time you think of advancing them further in the company. Even if the new employee isn’t the one getting the promotion they can see that others are getting opportunities, meaning they may have one if they keep up their great work.

None of it is really asking too much, simply treat your employees (new & old) the way that you would want to be treated. The better the treatment the better the worker, usually at least.
