Set your priorities straight. Every workplace has it busiest times of the day, it is important to use this time wisely. Put your attention to your most daunting task during this time, and when you have a moment to relax, transition to less demanding responsibilities.

When you’re overwhelmed just say no. Everyone in the workplace, at one point or another, has an abundant workload, it is okay to turn away other duties when it becomes too much. Most managers are understanding when you confront them with an overwhelming workload. It is a mangers job to find solutions and your workload is one of the most important elements in the workplace.

Don’t always expect perfection. Yes, we want to do our best in the workplace, however, everyone does make mistakes, especially, when they are under pressure for meeting deadlines that are just around the corner. Pressure is a distraction and trying to complete projects by quickly approaching deadlines, mistakes are bound to happen. Focus on what is in front of you and you will minimize your mistakes.

Design a to-do list. Many employees don’t have a lot of self-discipline in the workplace, but if you are a self-motivator then a to-do list will definitely benefit you. Having a to-do list that deals with daily workplace goals takes the roulette out of “what’s next” and help you work at a consistent pace.

Never give up. You know the deadline is right around the corner, but you have so much work to do before it’s due, just keep going. Even though you might not meet the deadline you should never give up. Giving up on your projects means you are giving up on yourself. Approach your manager and let him know you have been working day and night to complete the project. Discipline yourself to meet workplace deadlines to maintain your workplace expectations. Offering your best means you didn’t give up.

Use your resources. You don’t have to limit yourself to your own knowledge and skill sets. There are many other employees in the workplace that can help you or even offer advice, especially those in a higher position than you. Conversing with an employee with more experience, than yourself, is definitely a great way to expand your knowledge, skills, and resources in the workplace.

Stop multitasking. Under normal circumstances, multitasking is expected and required, but deadlines are due and you’re losing focus on what’s important. Center your attention on what needs to be done first and put everything else in the workplace aside.

Important projects and deadlines are your workplace’s lifeline. It’s how your workplace lives and breathes. Neglecting projects and deadlines will only hurt your workplace and every employee along-side of you. Compromising workplace responsibilities will only kill your company. It is your duty to stop putting deadlines off and complete them.
